A Sonnet

by The_Boy_Whodunnit

Is love a tether for an astronaut

Who’s fallen into fading afterglow?

A lighthouse guiding ships away from thoughts

And into seas where stars outshine shadows?

It’s lullabies to sing when clouds give chase

To fill the sails that sail a fear away.

And songs of stars that are drawn down with grace

From over chimney tops and skies of grey.

But like a wind that catches under kites

It lifts you up and helps you swim and soar

In empty oceans where you can take flight

Above the sea and safely back to shore.

    Away from you all of my fears do run;

    A sea once cold made warm under the sun.
