The Dance of Life

  The Dance Of Life

  Before the eastern sky becomes aglow
with light of dawn; while playful dreams bestow
inconstant scenes upon their sleepy stage;
yet even then, we live a life of chance.
If we but knew the rhythm of this Dance,

  the syncopated steps combined to form
the hidden dangers waiting to transform
our lives to buried words upon a page,
would we, upon our waking, choose to rise
and risk what surely could be our demise?

  With every human action that we take
(or not), we take a risk: we tempt the rage
of gods. So live your life outside the cage
of Death, and dance the Dance: of life, partake!

This is a Rosarian sonnet: a decachord and a quatrain rhymed aabcc ddbee fggf in iambic pentameter. The decachord is divided into two five-line stanzas. The first stanza presents the subject; the second stanza expands or examines the issue. The quatrain concludes or resolves the matter. I've used an envelope stanza here, but you can also use an fgfg rhyming pattern.

The poem is a call to celebrate life "outside the cage of death."
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
