Melancholy's Edge

by Sugarray77

At melancholy's edge I almost slip
and tumble into deep, depressing gray.
It seems I'm being pushed towards the tip
where I will never see the light of day.

With clenching hands I struggle to survive
while lurking near a cavernous abyss,
and to its rim I finally arrive
while wiping tears, or is it veils of mist?

But, there is hope for me, I will believe;
by counting blessings ~ naming one by one.
Acknowledging the good things I receive
will warm my heart by basking in the sun.

Remembering this truth will be a start ~
   true peace is found within a grateful heart.

After several reviewers comments and questions,... NO, this is not autobiographical. I just thought of the phrase "on the edge of melancholy" and thought I would work with it. Thanks for caring folks! :). M
