What I Hope

There is a kind of sadness that sets in,
when all the Christmas lights are put away.
The joys and laughter that the season brings,
die down and now reality holds sway.

Still, grateful I am for all that I have,
my friends and family all are safe and well.
And who knows what the future has in store,
the greatest year ahead, well who can tell?

I have a lot of goals I'd like to reach,
to be a kinder person than before,
and not judge those with whom I disagree,
to try and understand them a bit more.

I'd like to give more help to those in need,
I don't have much but what I have I'll share.
A loving word or gesture just might change
a life when you show someone that you care.

I'd like to write a children's book this year,
I thought that I might just give it a try.
A dream I've had for quite some time you see,
a goal this year that I won't let pass by.

I hope that everyone stays safe and well,
that this new year brings all that you hope for.
But most of all I hope our world will heal,
and be much better then it was before.
