So Beautiful Is...

The First Snow

by Boogienights

Snow! Contest Winner
Winter came over the Autunm scene,
with nary a word of warning.
It started in the dead of night,
and the earth was covered by morning.

How quietly the snowflakes fell,
cold beauty on display.
The trees caught every errant flake,
lest they should go astray.

Me, I didn't hesitate,
I rushed outside to see,
the dancing snowflakes falling,
O'er the earth, the trees, and me.

The stillness seemed to make time stop,
trapped 'neath a sheet of white.
But soon the sun came out to peek,
at the canvas made that night.

Infused with color it will be,
when the children come to play.
Dotted with snowmen built with care,
that will smile throughout the day.

The purity of the first snow,
still unmarred by sand and slush,
will be appreciated,
before the holidays make us rush.

I make a sweet snow angel,
and gaze up at snowy skies.
The first snow is a pleasure,
Winter's yearly special prize.
