a poem

Mother's Sun

by trimple

so it was...
day after day after day
from one space to another
the enormous forge
rose and dipped its fleece
in her beautiful milk

and even now
still sweeping
across those empty pools
her loveliness glows
warm as orange blossom

but along the burr
and brown marsh
those narrowing slits
will end in nothing more
than night after night after night...

This poem was my response to 'the sunset' contest, but I missed the deadline.
