Jet vapor trails streaked the evening sky.
Blushing cumulus clouds drifted slowly by.
Quite eve: a few faraway sounds to be heard,
Car droning, dog barking, and a twittering bird.

The air was satiated with a pleasing bouquet,
From area flowers and my own little nosegay.
Shadows arose as the Sun liquesced in the west.
Dusk came creeping in like an uninvited guest.

It seemed as if something was trying to convey,
"Be not afraid, dear one, we have prepared your way."
As it grew dark; stars scintillated in the skies,
Then my mind drifted away and I closed my eyes.
