My parents gave me the Bible

The Greatest Inheritance

by Kit Nongkhlaw

Today as I sit in my study
I look at the things I value most
Then I found this black bounded Book
It was presented to my parents
On their Wedding day.

My parents taught us to read this Book
Even when we were very young
All through the years, we kept on reading it
Until all the pages were worn out.

Before he passed away, my father
Handed it over to me and said these words
Son, please read it, believe it
You will love what it teaches
You must revere this Book
Obey and live by its laws.

Through this Book, I encounter God
Through this Book, I have a relationship with Him
Through its pages, I learned the most profound Love
For an imperfect human being like me.

Through this wonderful Book
I have found the personal meaning to life
This is the most valuable inheritance
My parents left for me, and for my family.
