One Too Many

He has become a part of me. Intruded into the life that was my own, settled down and made himself at home. Nobody invited him and I certainly could live without him, but we are stuck with each other.
It’s not that he’s a problem, sometimes I don’t even know he’s there. He is more of a reminder of past misgivings. Of a fun afternoon that turned into a catastrophic evening and now remains in the locked boxes of my mind. It could quite easily have been worse.
I scratch at Sammy the Scar as he makes his presence felt.
