Spread your wings

by royowen

Spread your wings

You spread your light as eagle's wings, a lamp too dim to guide.
Revealing not the ruts and rocks that shadow's darkness' hides.
You fail to catch the distant spark, yet wear a jewelled cloak.
And in the splendour of night's robe in inky blackness soak.

As clever men hypothesise, yet cannot measure depth,
or track your passage as they gaze from destination's step.
I know the sun provides its warmth, as dew-drops capture light,
For though its presence nurtures life it answers not men's plight.

So what's your purpose and your plan, some folk think you can see,
their future's past and destiny, why won't you answer me?
Perhaps this vision helps me see the one who made each eye,
to hear the silence of those gems to grant me myst'ry's cry.

Though I have sight, I'm truly blind, my soul will never hear.
As time imparts impending doom my faith assuages fear.
From eons past those lights reveal the Master's handiwork;
though some have passed they still remain enigma's hidden quirk.

I???¢??m talking of the stars here, they provide a vista and the wonder of vastness, but they really do not provide enough light to see our feet, but skippers of sailing vessels have navigated by these same stars, so in another sense they do guide. Some people actually think they reveal a persons destiny, but I think they reveal the God who made them, and His wonder.

Job 26:7-8 He spreads the northern skies over empty space, He suspends the Earth over nothing. He wraps up the waters in the clouds, yet the clouds do not burst under their weight. NIV

Isaiah 40:22 He sits enthroned above the circle of the Earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like canopy,
and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
