The Eyes Tell All

The Warning Signs

by AJ McCall

There was something off about him. Something about the way he watched me.

I get it, I'm cute, but his eyes followed me like a hawk's as I passed in front of him.

Then he plastered his face against the glass screen, and I jumped back with a sharp yowl, growling at him.

There was no way he was taking me home. But his squished face only spread into an evil smile as he spoke.

"I want that one, Mommy."
