Five senses of happiness

by Wendy G

What Makes Me Happy Contest Winner

Sunshine, and soft rain, and the songs of birds
Singing their happiness without any words ...
Glories of nature in every clime,
So complex and varied – all quite sublime!

The peace of my home, a comforting nest ...
A place where I am at ease, and at rest.
Food on the table, and plenty to share ...
Tempting wholesome aromas fill the air!

Precious hug of a child, squeezing me tight
With such love in the eyes, shining so bright ...
The trust of a loved pet, cherishing me ...
Faithful and loyal where're we may be!

Music to dance to, or soothe or uplift ...
My heart beats with pleasure – it's such a gift.
But the choicest sounds which I ever will hear
Are those when he says "I love you, my Dear!"

Did you notice the five senses are all present in the poem?

Each of the senses brings simple pleasures, and when it is all said and done, these are what brings me the greatest delight and happiness.

All lines have ten syllables (except one, lol. But I like it that way. Sorry to all those who like perfection in poetry. I haven't got there yet! And of course, life is never perfect!)
Pays one point and 2 member cents.
