Sung to the tune of Jingle Bells

Christmas in October

by AliMom

Parody a Christmas song. Contest Winner

Christmas sales, Christmas sales starting in a sec.
Pumpkins next to evergreens, come on now, what the heck?
Christmas sales, Christmas sales before the season starts
Skeletons and Mistletoe, come in and fill your carts

Malls are kinda thin, nobody's inside
People won't come out, cause Covid's on the rise
Merchants are in pain with each new deadly strain
Maybe starting earlier will help increase their gain

Oh, Christmas sales, Christmas sales with credit buy online
Scarier than Halloween if you don't pay on time
Oh, Christmas sales, Christmas sales why can't they just wait
Or move the calendar around and change the doggone date!

Writing Prompt

I'm a little weary and my anticipation of gift shopping usually wanes around November because the shopping season for Christmas starts in October. I kind of liked it when you didn't see a tree or decoration until after Thanksgiving. Maybe I'm just old school.
