Those Worthless Things

by jaybird1

Possessions have but little worth,
yet, we in earnest to them cling.
We can't take them when leaving earth,
so, enjoy pleasures life can bring.

If we let possessions, here or far,
become more valued than a friend;
This love will make us what we are
less better, as we near the end.

Don't spend your time searching for wealth,
or things we have to leave behind.
Seek love and friendship, guard your health,
ennoble both your soul and mind.

These are the things not left behind.
They will be with us, past our doom.
Our faith and trust, for all mankind,
stay with us even in our tomb.

We can only pass on possessions, which may not be wanted or needed
