Remembering Zoe

The Sadness of Quiet

by Terry Broxson

That night
Death slipped under
The door and took you
To its mystic light.

Now,
No voice to hear
No closeness to feel
No essence to bear.

Knowing,
They are gone
Circles the day
Fills the night
With emptiness of might.

Before,
Love undervalued
Time overlooked.

Now,
Not forgotten
Not amended
There is no joy
There is no bright
Only sadness
And the quiet.
