Her library app didn't work that evening. Just me and my brain tonight, she thought walking to her car.

She'd been raised in a family of cops and knew what to do. Years of karate and taekwondo surged through her muscles. She spun, kicked violently, simultaneously slamming her flat palm into the man's face.
He crashed to the ground, stunned.
She gasped. "Daddy! I'm so sorry!"
