Grandfather tells the importance of a untied country

Climb Upon My Knee

by HarryT

Climb upon my knee,
Sonny Boy, and let
Me tell what I’ve seen
I was born in 1941
WWII had begun
My uncles and dad
Fought for freedom
Against the Nazis,
Italy and Japan

The entire country
Pulled together
Men fighting overseas
Women worked on
Farms and in factories
Families planted Victory gardens
Men, women and children
We were all responsible and
Supported each other
In this time of profound peril
We united and battled together

Now we are in another war
Covid 19 spreading its spore
But false information strewn
By willfully ignorant people
Have plunged an ax severing
Our country in two

Remember, my son,
The lesson from WWII
Wars can only be won when
As a country, we pull together
If we do, we’ll beat the
Evil march of Covid 19
Just as the country beat the Axis
powers during historic WWII

So, let’s pray, before
It’s too late that we’ll
Join again together
Follow the guidelines that will
Provide a victory over Covid 19
Just as we defeated evil ending WWII
