Freedom and Chains

by DeboraDyess

The freedom of the open range
Prooved to be that ol' cowboy's chains.
He couldn't seem to stay in town
when all the others settled down.

He roamed the range sunrise, sundown.
His cowboy hat was his own crown.
His horse, it seemed, became his throne.
He ruled his kingdom all alone.

And then one day he disappeared.
but it weren't what the townsfolk feared.
He'd found his-self a cowgirl wife.
They rode the range as one for life.
