When only faith can save our nation

A Wounded Eagle

by Terry Overton

A wounded eagle lies on the ground
Its splendid feathers strewn around
Not from afar a bullet flew
But from within before she knew

And next to her Old Glory slumped
By disrespecting people dumped
Fiercely carried into battle times
Now stomping her is not a crime

A preacher cries to just a few
Before us death of red, white, and blue
Men died protecting her and us
Now no one wants to make a fuss

And from His mighty face we see
A tear roll down for you and me
How can these people stand idly by
And watch their sacred freedom die?

This great nation founded under Me
Now says don't stand, take a knee
Don't people know from times of old
To bravely pray and to be bold?

For only with God's strength and cover
Will His mighty nation recover
Believers hang their heads and cry
My nation burns and cities die

Our leaders know not where they go
Down foreign paths our monies flow
And now with evil motivation
There is a plan to ruin this nation

We're all the same as everyone
Our nation shouldn't outshine a one
We will spread our funds around
And let trespassers on our grounds

Our Father once again is weeping
And wonders "Why are all my people sleeping?"
If they will change their evil ways and come to me
This nation will remain strong and free.

Crickets are the only sound
Heard across this hallowed ground
And in their graves the soldiers cry
Please help them Lord our freedom dies.

Fall on your knees this day and pray
Dear Father don't let us fade away
Please tell us what to do
To return to freedom and honor You

And from on high comes His mighty roar
I can help you out no more
It is up to you to gather people
And save My country and all steeples

For My nation is in great upheaval
Sinking under murky depths of evil
Only one thing remains for you to do
Join together and pray for red, white, and blue

Through faith alone you will be saved
Too few have My faith displayed
I will weep to watch you fail
But greet you in heaven as others establish hell

Be strong, be kind, love each other always
No matter what happens, you'll have better days
For in Me your faith you place
And you will see My shining face.

Having military family members, including a grandson who recently returned from Iraq, it breaks my heart to watch our country on its current path.
