Can dusky men in chains
Scarred and starved and brutalized
Ripped from warm and comforting home
Return to shore from the depths of the sea
Where, counted cargo they languished

Waiting for their appointed time
To break the chains that bound them
Too far from their homeland
Moving forward instead to a new world
Bound to exact revenge for their wives and daughters

Shrieking their pain and rage and frustration
At not being allowed to be men
Their tortured spirits rise
To inflict wickedness upon those who had imposed it upon them
Not knowing they are 400 years too late

Would they seek retribution for what they've lost
Seek out the ancestors who've erased the stain
Or dig up the graves of those who claim no guilt
Haul their rotted, wasted ashes and bones back to conscious recognition
Of the grief they have borne, the blood-curdling sadness, despair, and pain
