Another Day Begins

by Bill Schott

Another day begins
before I
can pay the
debt that yesterday totalled.

Each new dawn
frees reality to
go forward,
halting passed progress.

I start over,
juggling undone deeds,
kinetically compromised,
losing battles not yet begun.

My hope is that I
never run out
of futures, or
prevent them from occurring.

Quietly observing, I
rise into a new world,
seemingly beginning again,
though full of undone deeds.

Unforgiven,
virtually destined to fail,
walking within an unwanted
xenopolis of the similarly fated.

Yesterday's burdens on my back,
zest for the quest continues.
