The Animal Dance

As always, at the meetings,
Bears were quite crabby I'd say.
Could it be their honey was in short supply that day?
Deep down in the glen the forest animals would meet,
Every week to dance here, in their forest home so sweet.
Foxes with their bushy tails pranced about with pride,
Gaily, raccoons twirled about, behind their masks they'd hide.
Harried squirrels would scamper down from trees to join the fun,
Insects of all kinds would buzz, joyfully in the sun.
Just then the furry rabbits came with carrot cupcake treats,
Kindly passing out to all, their lovely fresh baked sweets.
Later on, the wolves would come, they howled in delight,
Merry birds sang up above from morning until night.
No animal was missing, the moose and deer all came,
Overhead though big dark clouds began to threaten rain.
Picnic food was stashed away in hopes the rain would stop,
Quickly critters scurried as huge raindrops went kerplop!
Rain won't bother the badgers and the beavers liked it too,
Soon the dark clouds went away and skies above turned blue.
Then every single one came out, the dance began anew,
Underneath tree canopies the feasting started too.
Very hungry, digging in, the bears ate lots of honey.
Which was shared by friendly bees, now don't you think that's funny?
Xylophones, drums, and guitars, were played by a monkey band,
Yelling out a silly song as only monkeys can.
Zoos could never be such fun for this zany forest clan!
