A Truck Tragedy

Truck's Life

by Wils

"my truck" Contest Winner
Rusted and crusted
Decrepit and busted
I sit on the side of the road

Tyres flat, out of air
Some kid’s taken my spare
I’ll no longer shift a large load

Bare under the hood
Where my engine once stood
It purred like a kitten at play

Now left defenseless
I think it is senseless
As here on the roadside I stay

All of my stories
Of old trucking glories
I’ve told to young trucks starting out

Of miles I’ve travelled+
Roads of dust unraveled
Young truck minds are left with some clout

One piece of advice
That I say to them twice
Is “Know when to say that will be”

You’ll retire with thanks
Some gas left in your tanks
Not end up a rust truck like me
