A memory of my grandma

Grandma's Sweet Tea

by Allison78

Sweet tea
Made on the stove
Instead of by the sun
Comfort on ice
I watched as Grandma’s hands
Wrinkled; dappled with age spots
Filled the pitcher with water
Her shaky hands spilled on the counter
That had seen
Years and years
Of suppers, Christmases
Thanksgivings
New babies
Grandma had been young once
She came to America on the waves from Germany
And the breeze of new love born of war

I have learned so much from writers here but I haven't written any poetry or a short story in about 5 years. I want to get started again so I thought I would respond to this contest. Please be kind but constructive, thank you!
