Mika comes out at night
precocious, stealthy, and slight
with her brood, looking for food
she's beautiful, sleek, and bright
Walking along the top of the fence
she uses her nose to sniff out the scents
if she smells trash, she makes a dash
to wherever the odor's intense
She scrambles up on top of the can
it wobbles and falls, down with a wham!
the lid pops free, she jumps with glee
to enjoy some leftover spam
But, wait. What's that? An egg that broke
leaking out its yellow yolk
all gooey and sappy, but she's really happy
her favorite food--no joke
Doesn't matter a single bit
that it's five days old and smells like shit
she takes a bite, in pure delight
and says, "This is my motivation."
