My First Pull Up

I grabbed the bars over my head and tried to pull myself up. I felt myself move but nothing happened.
“Too bad. We’ll try again soon.” Steve, my trainer, sounded disappointed. We both thought I was ready after months of training.
“Let me try one more time.”
Steve looked doubtful.
I grabbed the bars and tightened my abs, thought about the muscles in my upper body, and began to lift. Suddenly I was above the bar.
Steve yelled, “You did it!” A couple men watching called, “Wow, Amazing! Congratulations!”
I lowered myself back to the ground, grinning. Success at last.

I was 57 years old when I did my first pull up. I don't know why I set this as a goal but I worked hard to reach it. There aren't many women my age who can do a pull up and I was so proud of myself.
