75 Word Flash Fiction
Bringing Home Our New Puppy
by Jill McCauslin
My husband opened the car door and let out the new, yet to be named puppy. She bolted towards the duck family crossing the backyard. The puppy scooped up a duckling and happily zoomed around. The parent ducks honked frantically and we called hopefully, "here puppy" but she refused to drop her prize. Finally, Dave grabbed the puppy and pried her mouth open. Dog owners for only one hour and already there's a dead duck.

This story is based on an actual event. Bringing a puppy home is always exciting but sometimes it's more exciting than others.
