Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level
It was not so funny when it happened

She Burned My Bacon

Long years ago I noticed this,
my breakfast bacon was too crisp.
I asked my wife why this was so
and she, with anger let me know.

She grabbed the bacon with her hand,
held it over the garbage can.
''Do you want this bacon, or not''.
That's the response from her I got.

Of course I did, she brought it back.
She ruled the roost, spoiled my attack.
I ate that bacon, somewhat mad,
then left for work, forlorn and sad.

Later that day, from out of town
I phoned to put this problem down
and said you served me burnt bacon.
You know I love you, don't you hon?

Her laughter was a great delight.
I knew my phone call got things right.
Since then my bacon's not too crisp.
I think of this each time we kiss.         May-2021
