Is there hope after betrayal?

Painted Paper Daisies

by Susan Louise Gabriel

Loves betrayal Contest Winner

Give me painted paper daisies—
just the kind you used to buy.
When you couldn’t buy the real ones,
paper had to satisfy.
They encouraged and enchanted
with abundant colored hues.
Vivid yellows, pinks and purples
always chased away my blues.
You made me love paper daisies,
but I haven’t had them since.
Even painted paper daisies
can’t survive indifference.

The sad betrayal of indifference. But is there a reason to hope?

This was inspired by events in my life in the distant past, which I combined into this poem.
