I was a singer,
a dancer too,
from a talented family,
youngest of the crew


Just a young kid
but not allowed to play,
rehearsals and gigs
day after day.

Left the family group
became a solo superstar
adored by all
Near and far.

Once I was black
Then became white.
Endless concerts
night after night

In order to perform
and remain a sensation,
had to rely on
medication.

Now that I'm dead
I can finally rest.
Now I don't always
have to be the best.
