Nightfall, Daybreak

by dovemarie

As the night falls, the shadows loom,
Slanting through curtains in my room
Crackling leaves whisper fairy tales,
Dusky clouds drift as moonlight pales
I hear night birds cooing melodious love calls
Stealthy soft steps on dark-green grass as the night falls

Day-breaking light fills my blurred eyes
I hear faint hoots of owls so wise
Newspaper tossed onto front porch
With fading glow of street lamp torch
Avian concert caroling over the height
Of mountains and hills worshipping day-breaking light
