Hugs and Kisses to all the Moms I have known

Prison Guard, Unconditional Love

by Reese Turner

Mothers, is it? My opinion on those?
Well, I know their kind, so here goes:
I had one, we all do, pure love was she
Unconditional love, she always gave me.

But, I’ve known many mothers in life
My mother-in-law, my daughters, my wife.
There are common traits to these gals
Ranging from prison guards down to pals.

They set the rules, the rules like these:
“Pick up your room, eat vegetables, please,
If you get something down, back on the shelf,
Have fun, but don’t make a pig of yourself.”

Bumps, cuts, scrapes – all handled with care
Aid for a broken heart, yep, they’ll be there.
Forgiveness of transgressions, in time, yes
And, even when we’re grown, this: “God Bless”

A fan of Little League? Of dance classes, too!
Devotee of football and band and ju-jitsu,
Whatever comes along that their kid enjoys
Mothers are there – for their girls and boys.
