Perseverance

by Janet Foor

A dandelion proudly grows
beneath my favorite hybrid rose.
I used to prod, pull each one out,
before I knew, I had no clout.

They seem to think that they belong --
and once I thought that they were wrong.
Then came the day I realized
that they brought cheer to gloomy skies

And so, I've learned that there is space
for things that seem to have no grace.
This yellow blowball is a weed.
and on the wind, shares ev'ry seed.

Our lesson on veracity
comes from this seed's tenacity.
To persevere what e're the cost
and bloom beneath the rugged cross.

Spring flowers are popping up all over the neighborhood but the bright yellow dandelion is the most prolific and steals the show.

Every time I see one, I am reminded of Adewpearl (Brooke Baldwin) and her love of the dandelion. I miss her lovely poetry and especially the ones about the dandelion.

This is my humble dandelion poem. Thank you for reading.
