6/7/3 Contemporary Horror Haiku

Post Apocalypse

final war runs its course
across arid vacant land —
dead silence

I woke up in the middle of the night and this horror haiku came to mind. I haven't written one in a long time. I hope you enjoy it.

-Vacant= having no fixtures, furniture, or inhabitants; empty.
-Arid= having little or no rain; too dry or barren to support vegetation.
-Post-apocalypse = existing or occurring after a catastrophically destructive disaster or apocalypse In a post-apocalyptic world where nature has become just as violent as humanity

-Contemporary Haiku: one to four lines, 17 syllables or LESS. No rhymes. Alliteration and metaphor is alright. These poems utilize a caesura (pause) The essence of haiku is cutting (KIRU) represented by the juxtaposition of two images or ideas separated by a (KIREJI) dash or ellipsis (~ .... ) Images are taken from human nature or nature.
