The Drink Poetry Contest Winner 

The roadside bar looked sketchy, even for a roadside bar. But he was super thirsty, having driven very far. The place was dark and musty, like in the movie dusk 'til dawn. The glasses looked quite dirty, bored, the barkeep loudly yawned. "I'll have a bottled beer," he said. "Sorry friend, but we're clean out." "But we have a special drink," he said, "that packs a lot of clout." So the man said, "What the hell," "I'll give this drink a try." It looked like a Bloody Mary, but it smelled like apple pie. The barkeep said, "It's on the house." This interesting libation, "Thanks," He said, and downed it quick, that strong bitter creation. The room soon started spinning, everything around him changed. His brain seemed to be melting, his vision rearranged. A female, most bodacious, appeared then at his side. His heart with love burned for this girl, inhibitions put aside. Love potion came in handy, for a woman still unwed. Rings were produced, the deed was done, they hit the wedding bed. The next day when the drink wore off, the girl he wed last night, looked nothing like she did before, her visage quite a sight. She was quite old, and ugly too, no longer fair of face. He'd had enough of wedded bliss, ran screaming from that place. The woman sighed, another one had gotten clean away. Her dad, the barkeep said, "Don't fret," "tomorrow's another day." It's a cautionary tale, strange drinks, men shouldn't try-- especially Bloody Marys, with the scent of apple pie.
