Why I write

I Don't Sing or Dance

I am very leery,
To answer this query,
This may not be right,
But here’s why I write,
 
If you saw my photo you’d know,
I have a face suited for radio,
I can’t sing or dance,
So publicly I won’t take a chance,
 
It’s certainly a fact,
I don’t know how to act,
Athletic prowess I have zero,
I ain’t no sports hero,
 
I’m much too cautious,
To run for public office,
As a general rule,
I’m no good with a tool,
 
Sometimes my syntax is lax,
What the Hell, I can spell,
So I had the yen,
To pick up a pen,
 
My pages are often full,
Of brilliance and bull,
It takes some concentration
To stoke my imagination,
 
I’m not very bright,
So I keep it light,
With everything I write,
You see my talents are few,
So writing is what I do,
