The Sounds in the Distance

by papa55mike

a train whistle bellows away
the cars clang along the tracks

a semi roars down the highway
the ambulance siren screams an alarm

a truck with no muffler growls down our street
the church bell chimes calling for service

a rooster crows even though it's noon
the dog barks at a jogger passing by

a soaring hawk shrieks for his mate
the blue jay squawks to announce an entrance

a young child cries at the park across the street
the older sister giggles with glee

a mother pleads for a meal to bless her family
the son holds his rumbling stomach in pain

a hateful shout of bigotry declares
the pounding footsteps of a man running

a rustle of hands and clothes, then a moan
the smack of a kiss in the darkened alley

a streetcorner musician growls out the blues
the gospel choir shouts praises and halleluiahs

a whisper of love comes from heaven above
the world is too busy to hear it

Could our loving Savior be calling to our world, but our lives are too busy to hear His whisper?

Many thanks for stopping by to read!
Have a great day, and God bless.
