Storms sometimes come on unexpectedly

A storm was lurking

by Joanne Gill-Maddick

On a dark evening in summer. My friend and I were swimming in a pond nearby.

The smell of freshly mowed grass filled the air, and thunderous black clouds filled the sky.

You could hear the distant rumbling of thunder
and torrential rains started pouring in full form.

We were out right  in the midst of a full blown thunderstorm

Our instincts told us we had to get out of there.

We made our escape towards home, for the storm would get worse I feared

The claps of thunder was getting louder as the rain bounced off the window panes.

A large tree was bending from the forceful strong winds and the very heavy rain.

Arriving home we found our house to be quite dark, we had to find a candle for light.

Luckily there was one on the table that we always kept in sight.

We donned dry clothes and sat by the fire all warm and cozy inside.

Seated  by the fire place while we waited for the storm to subside.
