The Shawshank Redemption

I have many favorites, I have to admit,
love all movies without an exemption.
But the best of the best, truly has to be,
a movie called "The Shawshank Redemption".

First time coming out in 1994,
starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins.
It's about a man jailed, he's falsely accused,
the injustices left my head throbbing.

Andy Dufresne was befriended by Red,
the inmate that narrates the story.
It follows Andy from first day to last,
out of bondage to incredible glory.

Spoiler alert, Andy serves nineteen years.
Well educated, he curried guard's favor.
Forced to cook books for a Warden corrupt,
trust was earned from his passive behavior.

Andy was smarter than anyone there,
put up posters through the years of a honey.
Then escaped through a tunnel that he dug behind,
He left town with Warden Norton's money.

Most important, when Red was paroled,
he was reunited with Andy, his friend.
With the money that Andy had left him,
they started life over again.

To explain the whole film would take me all day,
and ruin it for those who've not seen it.
A box office flop, it's the best nonetheless.
You should get up and watch it, I mean it!

From the darkest of days, he's redeemed in the end,
a rollercoaster of emotion.
I think I've seen it at least two hundred times,
it's worth watching if you get the notion.
