An evening with my sweetheart
There are flowers on the table
The restaurant lights are dim
I read the fine wine's label
then gaze back up at him
We'd been walking in the sunshine
'til it sank beneath the seas
He'd placed his jacket on my shoulders
to block the chilly evening breeze
I hand his jacket back now
It's his favorite shade of blue
He smiles as he takes it
whispering softly, "I love you"
He reaches his hands toward me
Just to touch them is a thrill
The waitress takes our order
and our empty glasses fill
Looking deep into my eyes
he tells me he has missed me
I think oh how much I love him
and the first time that he kissed me
Sometimes it feels like in the movies
Almost too good to be true
He swears he'll stay with me forever
Although our love is still quite new
Delicious odors flare our nostrils
Wafting to us through the air
Yet I am barely even hungry
As I watch him sitting there
This fine evening won't be over
though we talk and laugh and dine
'til I'm curled up beneath the covers
with my perfect Valentine.
