This work has reached the exceptional level
Modern Sonnet

An Open Door

I'm searching for an open door;
an entrance to the clear blue skies,
to know the things that might have been,
if I had not believed your lies.

I'd see myself with attributes
of skill and graceful artistry;
instead of flaws and brokenness,
the things that you have said are me.

And as I look upon the truth,
allowing it to change my heart,
deceitful bonds of your regard
are cut in shreds and torn apart.

No longer shall another's scheme
define my inner self esteem.
