2020 was a cursed year;
it's the year we lost the meaning of life, oh, dear.

To keep lives safe, nations were forced into lockdown
leaving crowds with heavy frowns.

In trying to preserve life, though
we lost the reasons that made life worthwhile in the first place,
that was a sneeky blow.

We have given up living, working, dreaming, connecting with others,
in order to protect ourselves from the virus, sisters and brothers.

Life will have meaning again only when we set covid fears aside,
shake off those invisible shackles and step outside.
