The Tree

by Boogienights

I have come back to the tree,
in which we carved our names.
We were very much in love,
that warm and sunny day.

I remember that day very clearly,
though it may be hazy in your mind.
The ice cream truck came around,
and I didn't have a dime.

But you came to my rescue,
and shared your ice cream with me.
I remember that day now,
as I look upon our tree.

You decided to take a walk,
down by the river with me.
And that's where we carved our names,
in that old oak tree.

Now we've moved along life's path,
and it's just a memory.
Still, it's nice to remember
our names carved in our tree.

I never want to forget,
that warm and sunny day.
It's all I have to cling to,
now that you're gone away.
