A Kyrielle for the Repeating Line Contest

Instead of Fear

by June Sargent

I wake each morning to the sound
of finches trilling all around
I smile and bask in nature's cheer -
instead of focusing on fear

My orchids fill our window sill
To watch them bloom gives me a thrill
To nurture them is my career -
instead of focusing on fear

Our grandsons visit now and then
on Zoom - they're growing into men
Each precious moment I'll hold dear -
instead of focusing on fear

Whatever happens in the world
My sails are ready, all unfurled,
to sail through life with purpose clear -
instead of focusing on fear
