A Year of Renewal

The New Year has come, a brand new start,
it's so exciting, the things we'll do!
Remember be kind and open your heart
to peace and respect, and see it all through.

2021, we welcome you,
can't tell you enough how happy you're here.
Though Covid still lingers, wearing masks, we must do.
the vaccine, when given, will ease all our fear.

2020, we bid you adieu,
don't let the door hit you on the way out.
You really outstayed your welcome, that's true.
Now twelve months renewal is what we're about.

This New Year will be the greatest yet,
I plan on winning the lottery!
I'll share my money, yes, all that I get,
local papers will do a story on me.

I'll lose lot's of weight, give up on the sweets,
maybe I'll learn a language or two.
Read one book a month, that will be a treat,
all of these things don't seem that hard to do.

But most importantly, in this New Year,
treat others you meet as you'd have them treat you.
Stay strong and focused, keep those you love near,
have faith in yourself and all that you do.
