Spanning 50 years, hearing Marco Polo in summer still makes me happy!
This is an ancient Persian poetic form called a ghazal. (GUZ-zle) Like haiku, the form gets "adapted" to fit our western culture. In English, it's made up of couplets, and there's a subtle rhyme scheme: a single rhyme is used throughout the poem, just before each refrain. (Above, everything rhymes with "name".) There are lots of "rules" to follow, like the poet's name must appear in the penultimate line, and it should have a consistent meter. (Here, I've used iambic pentameter.)
