A shepherd boy ... 1 Samuel 17:17-37

Now David was a shepherd boy, who tended Jesse's sheep.
Composing many psalms and hymns, before his nightly sleep.
For David really loved the Lord, was master of the pen.
He'd write of God, his heart of love, God gave him skill and ken.

Our David played the harp to God to please his Saviour's ear.
God blessed Him with His joy and peace, and drove away all fear.
Now David was a warrior boy, with sling shots he was king.
And he destroyed that Lion's roar, and killed it with his sling.

He killed a bear, and that was rare, one day out in the field.
He lost no sheep within his keep. in that his legend's sealed.
A prophet who was seer to all, came down to see Dave's dad.
He met Dave's siblings one and all, save one the shepherd lad.

Now Jesse had another son, confessing to the seer.
There's just one son left in the field, but not a king I fear.
But Samuel said," bring him to me, cause God said he is here."
When he saw David was the one, whom God made king and peer.
