Her wish that he come home.

Prayer for a Veteran

Wait patiently for our special star to arise
Send my secret wish across the darkening skies
Trace footsteps when we walked together hand in hand
Pray that he'll return soon from that faraway land
His fate I ponder, I'm so dreadfully afraid
Fear that he will not come home from the war charade
God, bring him home, even if wounded, scarred and scared
No matter what happens to him I'll be prepared
Promise care for his mental and physical pain
His sacrifice won't be forgotten nor in vain
