A Seasoned Octet

Upon Stars I Swing

by June Sargent

A string of memories I keep -
the joys I reap - each one a pearl.
A girl with wings of faith I leap.
'pon stars I swing, midst clouds I twirl.

Someday my feet will touch the ground.
Once heart has found true love - I'll sing
and cling to gems with which I'm crowned.
Til then, I say, enjoy the fling!

Youth comes but once, and then it flees -
like summer breeze that cannot stay.
Those gay and carefree days of ease
and golden mums soon fade away.

I grew up watching Perry Como sing on TV. One of my favorite songs was Swingin on a Star...
