To Mend This Broken Land

by Mrs. KT

I long to pen the words all need to hear
To break the grip dark rancor holds affirmed,
And wash away the crippling voice of fear
That seeps into the souls of hate confirmed.

I seek to grasp what fills the hearts of men,
When to the world they show a hostile face,
That in the dark of night will hold no ken
To that which greets the morning light's new grace.

If only I could walk with you a piece,
And truly come to know what shapes your world,
Our commonality would then increase ~
A brotherhood of dignity unfurled.

With hope renewed, I’ll offer you my hand.
With trust regained, we’ll mend this broken land.
